Trump, White House respond to Mueller comments

President Trump responded to special council Robert Mueller’s press conference today on social media, saying “The case is closed.” The White House echoed his sentiment with a statement from press secretary Sarah Sanders. In the statement, she encourages people to “move on.”

These statements come after Robert Mueller did not exonerate the President of obstruction of justice charges, yet did not provide any examples of obstruction either. The special councilor said that he could not indite a sitting president, therefore they did not pursue that potion of the investigation.

Unsurprisingly, many Democrats have called for immediate impeachment proceedings, including from Democratic Presidential candidates Senators Kamala Harris and Corey Booker. But, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been hesitant to begin these proceedings even though there has been increasing pressure.

It is doubtful that this is the end of the conversation, but from Mueller it may be. He reiterated that he carefully chose the words of the report and it should speak for itself. He expressed that he didn’t want to testify or speak on the matter anymore. Mueller resigned from the Department of Justice following his press conference.
