Bobcats projected to win East and Conference titles

DETROIT – The Ohio Bobcats football team has been projected to win the East Division of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) in the media’s Preseason Poll.  The poll’s results were announced at the league’s MAC Football Media Day at Ford Field in Detroit in late July. Polling was conducted on members of the league’s media. Ohio was also selected to win the 2019 MAC Football Championship Game.

Ohio was unanimously selected first with 144 total points.  They were followed by the Miami RedHawks with 107 points, while the defending MAC East Champion, Buffalo Bulls, finished third with 100 points.  Kent State finished fourth with 62 points, followed by Akron and Bowling Green.

In the West Division, Toledo was selected first with 127 total points, Western Michigan finished second with 112 points, and the defending MAC Champion Northern Illinois was third with 103 points.  Eastern Michigan ranked fourth with 83 points, followed by Ball State and Central Michigan.

The Bobcats will return 14 starters from last year’s 9-4 (6-2) team who went on to defeat San Diego State in the Frisco Bowl 27-0.
